5 - SV Delos

Sailing & Filming the world for a living

SV Delos is a popular YouTube sailing channel named after the boat Sailing Vessel Delos. Before buying the boat and setting off, Brian Trautman was a 9-5 office hostage who escaped his desk job to seek respite on what was supposed to be an 18 month sail. Now, more than a decade later, Brian along with the crew of SV Delos, sail the world and document their journey on YouTube.

6 - Dan Mace

From Acclaimed Director to Youtube creator, why?

Dan Mace is a highly talented South African filmmaker and director turned YouTube creator.

Dan’s career as a TVC Director kicked off at a very young age when he was swept up and commissioned to direct commercials for huge brands such as Tusker and the Indian Premier League. He went on to receive some of the biggest accolades in the industry including three Young Director awards at Cannes.

Fresh from winning his awards and quickly climbing the ranks, Dan decided to pull away from the industry and pursue a career on YouTube. Dan talks to us about what is was like working alongside Casey Neistat and how it’s been to have stepped out of his limelight.

7 - Sam Newton
Sam Newton is a travel filmmaker and entrepreneur who co-founded MoveToCreate.
Sam is a seriously talented dude whose name exploded onto the scene through his hysterical music parodies which poke fun at many of the cliché trends used in the travel filmmaking space. But Sam has a serious side to him too, creating beautifully crafted films with emotion and meaning.

8 - Daniel Deuschle
Daniel Deuschle is a Zimbabwean born songwriter and producer who specializes in producing soundtracks for film.
Dan has scored music for commercials, travel videos and more recently has devoted his energy to contributing on Musicbed (music licensing platform for filmmakers). He is also the wizard helping create the Sound FX packs here at Visual Tone.
His style can be described as worldly with cinematic, dreamy, and electronic undertones. Although now based in Los Angeles, he stays true to his Zimbabwean roots by infusing African influence into his melodies. There’s probably a good chance you’ve heard Dan’s music in videos online which is why we’re excited to shine the spotlight on the man behind them.

Naudé Heunis is South African adventure filmmaker and conservationist who is devoted to applying his skillset into making a positive impact in our natural world.
In this episode, we take a look into the life of a wildlife filmmaker. Naudé shares his experience about what it’s like to work out in the wild African bush and tells us stories of how he managed to capture some remarkable moments that come once in a lifetime.

10 - JustKay
Kay Van Huisseling (aka JustKay) is a media creative and filmmaker from the Netherlands. Just a few years ago he was studying nursing, but after stumbling upon some beautiful travel photography on Instagram, something ignited within him. Kay now travels the world and documents it’s beauty for a living. His progression and journey have been astounding.

Antoine is an action photographer / videographer from France who is an absolute  motorsports fanatic.
In this episode of our podcast, we talk about how Antoine managed to get a foot in the door of the Formula One industry. Not only is it an incredibly difficult sport to capture, but it is notoriously one of the most difficult industries to break into as a photographer.
